1/2 lime
Tequila
Fresh agave margarita mix
Margarita salt or tajin for rim
Fill a cocktail shaker with some ice. Fill your cocktail glass 1/4 full with tequila. Fill the remainder of glass with your margarita mix. Pour into cocktail shaker and squeeze 1/2 lime into the shaker. Repeat for the number of margarita’s you’re making. A standard 12. oz. cocktail shaker with ice will hold 2-3 servings. Shake vigorously until very cold.
If you are doing a rim, dip edges of glass into lime juice and then dredge edges of glass in salt or tajin. Pour into margarita or rocks glass of your choice. These can be served up or on the rocks. Garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes:
The quality of your margarita depends on your ingredients. For the tequila, we always prefer a reposado or anjeo, but you can use any tequila of your liking. Your margarita mix pick is also crucial. We prefer a mix that users pure agave, as it’s much more fresh and less sweet. Some mixes can taste artificial. See below for our favorites.
